Do FRUITS Make You Fat?
If you're trying to lose weight, you're probably worried about ice cream, pizza, and cakes ...

What about fruits?

Isn't that one of the BEST things you can eat to lose those stubborn pounds?

Not so fast!

The cause of your relentless struggle to lose weight could be right in front of you: the empty fruit basket on your kitchen table.
Fruit is delicious, but it's not a “pass” in your diet. Many people treat them that way, however. They are strict about giving up unhealthy processed foods. But they eat as much fruit as they want. Once someone decides to lose weight, sweets, sodas, and processed foods are usually the first things to give up ... But you still have to eat something. You need to replace some of those calories that you have eliminated from your diet. Protein and healthy fats are ideal, but people struggle to get enough. So they end up constantly taking snacks, filling themselves with fruit to fight hunger.
This is where the problem begins. A certain chemical in fruit can be DANGEROUS if you eat too much. This is what we will discuss now ...
Fructose: This is what Makes Fruits Sweet (And Sometimes Dangerous) "Fructose" is a natural sugar found in fruits. It is much better than high fructose corn syrup (which is found in processed foods). But fructose is still sugar. Eat too much of it and you can have a whole bunch of problems. Why ?
When you eat fruit, your body quickly converts the fructose it contains. This creates spikes in blood sugar and your body releases a hormone called insulin to regain control. If you do this regularly, your body adapts by becoming INSulin RESISTANT!
From there things will go from bad to worse. Insulin resistance has been linked to obesity (the last thing you want to hear if you're trying to lose weight). It has also been linked to diabetes, kidney failure and even heart disease. So the dangers of over-consuming fructose are real. But do not swear yet that you are going to stop eating fruit ...
Wait. I Thought Fruits Was Good For You! What's going on ?
Fruits are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that you could write pages and pages about. As long as you don't eat too much of them, they stay in the "healthy" foods camp. But not all fruits are the same!
Some are sweeter than others. They are high in fructose and have a high "Glycemic Index" (this is what measures the impact of food on your blood sugar level). Save the following sweet fruits for special occasions:
You can enjoy the following fruits more often because they are less sweet:
How Much Fruit Can I Eat And Continue To Lose Weight?
Fruits are packed with nutrients that make them good for you. But they also contain fructose which can be dangerous if you consume too much ... But from how much is it "too much"? It depends.
Your level of activity matters ...

But from how much is it "too much"? If you spend most of your time in an office and exercise only a little, you are likely to see faster weight loss by limiting yourself to 1 to 3 servings of fruit per day. Athletes and people who are physically active can get by by eating more fruit: 4 to 5 servings per day is a good guideline. Physical activity helps you be successful with more carbohydrates in your diet (from fruits and vegetables that are high in starchy foods).
You can always stop eating fruit until you have reached your target weight. Then you can gradually reintroduce them into your diet. Until then, you can get all the nutrients you need from the vegetables. No matter how many fruits you eat, don't let them replace animal proteins and vegetables as they are the mainstay of your diet.
